Saint Francis of Assisi

Saint Francis of Assisi (c. 1181-1226) was an Italian mystic, friar, and poet, famous for founding the Franciscan Order (Order of Friars Minor) and embracing a life of radical poverty, humility, and love for God’s creation, becoming the patron saint of animals and ecology. Born to a wealthy merchant, his life transformed after hearing God’s call to “rebuild my church,” leading him to renounce his wealth and live as a beggar, inspiring followers and establishing the Franciscans and the Poor Clares (with Clare of Assisi), and creating the first living Nativity scene. He is also known for receiving the stigmata (Christ’s wounds) and writing the Canticle of Brother Sun

Key Aspects of His Life & Legacy:

  • Early Life & Conversion: Born Giovanni di Bernardone, he lived a carefree, luxurious youth before a war and illness led to a profound spiritual conversion, prompting him to give up his possessions.
  • Founding Orders: He established the Franciscans, dedicated to poverty, and inspired the Poor Clares (for women) and the Secular Franciscan Order (for laypeople).
  • Love for Creation: He saw all creatures as brothers and sisters, a deep respect that led to his patronage of animals and ecology.
  • Spiritual Experiences: Received the stigmata in 1224 and composed the Canticle of Brother Sun, a beautiful hymn to creation, marking him as a literary figure.
  • Patronage: Patron saint of Italy, animals, ecology, merchants, and peace, among others.
  • Feast Day: Celebrated annually on October 4th.

Famous For:

  • Poverty & Humility: Living the Gospel literally, without limit.
  • First Nativity Scene: Created the first live Nativity in Greccio, Italy.
  • Connection to Animals: Miracles and stories, like taming a wolf, highlight his bond with nature.

A “prophecy” sometimes attributed to Saint Francis speaks of a future tribulation, stating that during this time, “a man, not canonically elected, will be raised to the Pontificate, who, by his cunning, will endeavor to draw many into error and death!” In scripture we are warned of a great Apostasy that will come upon us in the Last Days. 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 LSB – “Let no one in any way deceive you, for it has not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the sanctuary of God, exhibiting himself as being God.”(LSB)

The message of Our Lady of La Salette, delivered on September 19, 1846, to two shepherd children—Mélanie Calvat (14) and Maximin Giraud (11)—in the French Alps, is primarily

a call to reconciliation and conversion

Core Themes of the Public Message

The apparition is known for its “weeping Lady” who lamented the lack of religious devotion. Her primary grievances included:

  • Desecration of Sundays: She expressed deep sorrow that few people attended Mass, and many continued to work on the “Lord’s Day”.
  • Blasphemy: She warned against the frequent use of her Son’s name as a curse word or in vain.
  • Neglect of Prayer: She urged the children to pray at least an “Our Father” and a “Hail Mary” morning and evening when they could do no more.
  • Warnings of Famine: She foretold a great famine, specifically mentioning that the potato harvest would continue to rot as a consequence of these sins. This was later linked to the Great Famine in Europe.

The “Secret” Messages

Beyond the public message, Our Lady entrusted each child with a private secret. These were controversial and were published in full later (notably in 1879). Key elements include:

  • Apostasy and Clergy: Warnings of a decline in faith among the clergy and religious orders.
  • Apocalyptic Prophecies: Predictions of social upheaval, wars, and natural disasters.
  • “Rome will lose the faith”: A widely cited line claiming that Rome would become the seat of the Antichrist and the Church would be “in eclipse”.

Even the Catechism of the Catholic Church has stated: “675      Before Christ’s second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers.574 The persecution that accompanies her pilgrimage on earth575 will unveil the “mystery of iniquity” in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth. The supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh.576 (769) 676      The Antichrist’s deception already begins to take shape in the world every time the claim is made to realize within history that messianic hope which can only be realized beyond history through the eschatalogical judgment. The Church has rejected even modified forms of this falsification of the kingdom to come under the name of millenarianism,577 especially the “intrinsically perverse” political form of a secular messianism.578 (2425) 677      The Church will enter the glory of the kingdom only through this final Passover, when she will follow her Lord in his death and Resurrection.579 The kingdom will be fulfilled, then, not by a historic triumph of the Church through a progressive ascendancy, but only by God’s victory over the final unleashing of evil, which will cause his Bride to come down from heaven.580 God’s triumph over the revolt of evil will take the form of the Last Judgment after the final cosmic upheaval of this passing world.581 (1340, 2853) II. To Judge the Living and the Dead 1038-1041 678      Following in the steps of the prophets and John the Baptist, Jesus announced the judgment of the Last Day in his preaching.582 Then will the conduct of each one and the secrets of hearts be brought to light.583 Then will the culpable unbelief that counted the offer of God’s grace as nothing be condemned.584 Our attitude about our neighbor will disclose acceptance or refusal of grace and divine love.585 On the last day Jesus will say: “Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.”586 (1470) 679      Christ is Lord of eternal life. Full right to pass definitive judgment on the works and hearts of men belongs to him as redeemer of the world. He “acquired” this right by his cross. The Father has given “all judgment to the Son.”587 Yet the Son did not come to judge, but to save and to give the life he has in himself.588 By rejecting grace in this life, one already judges oneself, receives according to one’s works, and can even condemn oneself for all eternity by rejecting the Spirit of love.589 (1021)”

In conclusion, “680      Christ the Lord already reigns through the Church, but all the things of this world are not yet subjected to him. The triumph of Christ’s kingdom will not come about without one last assault by the powers of evil. 681      On Judgment Day at the end of the world, Christ will come in glory to achieve the definitive triumph of good over evil which, like the wheat and the tares, have grown up together in the course of history. 682      When he comes at the end of time to judge the living and the dead, the glorious Christ will reveal the secret disposition of hearts and will render to each man according to his works and according to his acceptance or refusal of grace.”(C.C.C. 675-682)

Neo-SSPX(Resistance)

That Conciliar Church is a schismatic church because it breaks with the Catholic Church that has always been. It has its new dogmas, its new priesthood, its new institutions, its new worship… The Church that affirms such errors is at once schismatic and heretical. This Conciliar Church is, therefore, not Catholic. To whatever extent Pope, Bishops, priests, or the faithful adhere to this new church, they separate themselves from the Catholic Church.” (Archbishop Lefebvre, Reflections on his suspension a divinis, July 29, 1976)

Pope Paul VI said in a homily that “from some fissure the smoke of Satan has entered the temple of God”. In his 2003 apostolic exhortation Ecclesia in Europa, Pope John Paul II lamented a widespread erosion of faith marked by practical agnosticism, religious indifference and a forgetting of Christian heritage – describing it as a silent apostasy on the part of people who have all that they need and who live as if God does not exist. Benedict XVI publicly decried the “process of secularization” that “has produced a grave crisis of the sense of the Christian faith and of belonging to the Church”.

“Modern Ecumenism and Religious Liberty have been especially far-reaching in its harmful consequences. A true ecumenism aims to lead souls to enter into the true Church founded by Jesus Christ, but the modern and false type of ecumenism which was promoted by the Second Vatican Council is concerned with achieving a purely human reconciliation, ignoring the need to reconcile men with God by leading souls to the means of salvation found only in the Catholic Church. Religious liberty, as taught by the Second Vatican Council, denies the rights of Our Lord Jesus Christ as King.”(https://thecatholictrumpet.com/the%E2%98%A9trumpet/f/neo-sspx-confirms-what-resistance-catholics-have-always-known)

If the normal hierarchy (pastor, bishop, etc.) do not fulfill their duty, the faithful find themselves in a state of necessity that allows them to have recourse to any Catholic priest. Because of the necessity, this priest then receives directly from the Church what is called supplied jurisdiction, in order to minister to the faithful. We have always maintained that in the current crisis, supplied jurisdiction empowers traditional priests to baptize, hear the confessions of, marry, etc., Catholics who otherwise would not depend on them.

The Popes Against Modern Errors

In 1789, the French Revolution took place and launched a host of religious, political and social errors which the Popes for over 160 years afterwards wrote and legislated against. Yet most of these errors have spread and today have filtered down to the common man… with the result that most people now take for granted many fundamental assumptions that are positively false But almost from the beginning of these errors, the Popes spoke out as with one voice, inveighing against them.

Today, as we see these errors bearing evil fruit, many thoughtful Catholics are returning to those Papal documents which condemned these modern errors, to examine what the Popes have said all along about them. Here, in one handy volume, are the best and most famous of those papal denunciations: On Liberalism (Mirari Vos). Gregory XVI. 1832. On Current Errors (Quanta Cura). Pius IX. 1864. The Syllabus of Errors. Pius IX. 1864. On Government Authority (Diuturnum Illud). Leo XIII. 1881. On Freemasonry and Naturalism (Humanum Genus). Leo XIII. 1884. On the Nature of True Liberty (Libertas Praestantissimum). Leo XIII. 1888. On the Condition of the Working Classes (Rerum Novarum). Leo XIII. 1891. On Christian Democracy (Graves de Communi Re). Leo XIII. 1901. Syllabus Condemning the Errors of the Modernists (Lamentabili Sane). St. Pius X. 1907. On Modernism (Pascendi Dominici Gregis). St. Pius X. 1907. Our Apostolic Mandate (On the “Sillon”). St. Pius X. 1910. The Oath Against Modernism. St. Pius X. 1910. On the Feast of Christ the King (Quas Primas). Pius XI. 1925. On Fostering True Religious Unity (Mortalium Animos). Pius XI. 1928. On Atheistic Communism (Divini Redemptoris). Pius XI. 1937.

On Certain False Opinions (Humani Generis). Pius XII. 1950. After this book, the reader will be forced to conclude: “The Popes were right all along ” Only by heeding the advice and counsel of these enlightened Roman Pontiffs will the world be able to cast off its yoke of error and enjoy once more the true freedom Our Lord spoke of when He said, “If you continue in my word, you shall be my disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31-32).””

Catholic Church is the sole Ark of Salvation

“It firmly believes, professes and preaches that all those who are outside the catholic church, not only pagans but also Jews or heretics and schismatics, cannot share in eternal life and will go into the everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels, unless they are joined to the catholic church before the end of their lives;”{Pope Eugene IV, Council of Florence, Cantate Domino, 1441, ex cathedra}

Membership of the Church is necessary for all men for salvation(De fide.)

Saint Irenaeus wrote that:

“In the efficacy of the spirit all those have no part, who do not hasten to the Church; rather they, by their evil teaching and their evil deeds, rob themselves of life. For where the Church is, there is also the spirit of God, and where the spirit of God is, there is the Church and all grace.” (Adv. Haer. III 24,I).

“In view of the stress laid upon the necessity of membership of the Church for salvation it is understandable that the possibility of salvation for those outside the Church is mentioned only hesitantly.” [Fundamental of Catholic Dogma, P.313] “Saint Thomas Aquinas, agreeing with Tradition, teaches the general necessity of the Church for salvation.

A distinction needs to be made here between dogmatic tolerance and civil tolerance. Dogmatic tolerance is rejected by the Church which would legitimately make all religions of the same value, when it comes to justification; also known as indifferentism. Civil tolerance is propagating the commandment of love of neighbor towards all men, even those in error.

A Church Without Dogma

The architects of Vatican II, by their modernist philosophy, created a church without dogma. Reckless use of ambiguity and subtly destroyed the Vatican documents and it was to intentionally destroy the faith in the minds of the faithful. “For, by his Incarnation, he, the son of God, in a certain way united himself with each man.”(John Paul II, Redemptor Hominid) This quote from John Paul II is a definite sign of his

humanistic and modernist views. He also said,”The sin of the killing of Christ on the cross has redeemed us.” Or how about, “Christ is in every man.” On January 11, 1989 he said,”…that the part of the creed talking about Christ descending into hell can be interpreted metaphorically.”

“How does a Catholic sin against faith? A Catholic sins against the faith by apostasy, heresy, indifferentism, and by taking part in non-Catholic worship.”(Catechism of Trent, Catechism of Pope St. Pius X, Baltimore Catechism) Canon Law states: It is not permitted at all for faithful to assist in any active manner or have any part in the worship of non-Catholics.( Canon 1258)

False Ecumenism

All of these ,so called, Popes expressed views that showed their religious indifference. As if all roads lead to heaven. This shows also the influence of Masonic false ecumenism. True Catholic dogma does not teach this.

“It firmly believes, professes and preaches that all those who are outside the catholic church, not only pagans but also Jews or heretics and schismatics, cannot share in eternal life and will go into the everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels, unless they are joined to the catholic church before the end of their lives;”{Pope Eugene IV, Council of Florence, Cantate Domino, 1441, ex cathedra}

So why do these Popes continue to contradict this clear teaching of the extraordinary magisterium? Let’s look at some examples:

The kissing of the Qur-an (the “holy” books of the false religion of Islam) by Pope John Paul the Second scandalized thousands in the Catholic Church. Add the public dethroning of Christ: the Assisi blasphemy, where the devotees of every false god known to man were invited to stand alongside Peter. Surely we are witnessing the“Diabolical disorientation of the Church, starting at the top,” of which Our Lady forewarned us at Fatima?[Essay by Don McGovern with acknowledgement to by the Remnant]

This is the contradiction I was talking about, Ecumenism and interfaith dialogue always implies or at least encourages the heresy of Indifferentism, according to which it does not matter what religion one professes, as long as one has good will or shares certain beliefs or“values” in common. Until the death of Pope Pius XII in 1958, the Catholic Church always opposed the ecumenical movement and offered as her own alternative the conversion of all non-Catholics to the only true Church, which has been instituted by God as the sole means of salvation.

“One must resist the Pope who openly destroys the Church.”(St. Cajetan) These post-councilor Popes are all modernist who, by their own public material heresy, have put themselves outside the Catholic Church.

Defection of the faith is accomplished by public heresy “Ipso facto” without any declaration. From any ecclesiastical office.(Council of Constance) So, even though Vatican I says,”a Pope cannot be judged by anyone.” The Pope is judged by his own actions. Once heresy is public, then that person ceases to be a member of the Church. [Pope Innocent III] Therefore he ceases to be Pope. This is a “de fide” Catholic teaching of the Church according to St. Robert Bellarmine, all the early Church Fathers taught this through the ordinary Magisterium.

St. Robert Bellarmine,( De Romano Pontifice, II, 30:) “For, in the first place, it is proven with arguments from authority and from reason that the manifest heretic is ‘ipso facto’ deposed. The argument from authority is based on St. Paul (Titus 3:10), who orders that the heretic be avoided after two warnings, that is, after showing himself to be manifestly obstinate – which means before any excommunication or judicial sentence. And this is what St. Jerome writes, adding that the other sinners are excluded from the Church by sentence of excommunication, but the heretics exile themselves and separate themselves by their own act from the body of Christ.”

St. Robert Bellarmine, (De Romano Pontifice, II, 30:) “This principle is most certain. The non-Christian cannot in any way be Pope, as Cajetan himself admits (ib. c. 26). The reason for this is that he cannot be head of what he is not a member; now he who is not a Christian is not a member of the Church, and a manifest heretic is not a Christian, as is clearly taught by St. Cyprian (lib. 4, epist. 2), St. Athanasius (Scr. 2 cont. Arian.), St. Augustine (lib. De great. Christ. Cap. 20), St. Jerome (contra Lucifer.) and others; therefore the manifest heretic cannot be Pope.

“When foulness invades the whole Church we must return to the Church of the past.”(St. Vincent of Lerins) Pope St. Pius X also wrote the famed Oath Against Modernism which was required to be sworn to by clergy and others in the Church, and sought to warn the faithful before it was too late. Much work was done to extinguish modernist trends of thought within the Church thanks to this most venerable and saintly Pope, and to this day, he remains the most important saint to have ever fought against the poisonous infections of the movement.(https://www.catholicgentlem…

While many devout Catholic people reside in the so called Roman Catholic Church, the Novus Ordo rite is a new religion. Not Catholic! I am not relying on my own personal interpretation, but that of the Church. This does notinclude the blasphemous teachings of the post-councilor Popes. I apologize, but “to be silent before error is to be repulsive to God.”

So this is why today dogma is frowned upon in the Church. Christ is just one among many gods! What a shame. The most painful part is the unwillingness for the laity to see the truth that they have been deceived.

“Many persons who call themselves Catholic think that the “Catholic Church” now centered in Rome, in the Vatican, is the Catholic Church. Since 1958 (after the death of Pope Pius XII on October 9, 1958), the holders of offices there, have usurped the name of the Catholic Church from which they of their own free will departed. They left the faith, and therefore they left the Church that was founded by Christ on the apostles with Peter as its head.

This deception was first made manifest by the bogus Council Vatican II (1962 – 1965) which was held to bring the Catholic Church into the 20th century, and to update the church to the views of the liberal thinkers of the time. It wanted to “modernize” the church, wanted to bring it more in line with “Protestant” thinking. The Vatican II documents altered virtually every single sacrament, every rite and ritual, and did away with specific Catholic teachings that existed from the time of Christ.

In reality, Vatican II did not change the Catholic Church one bit, but rather it invented an entirely new religion which is most commonly referred to today as the “Novus Ordo,” a moniker coming from the “New Order Missal” invented at Vatican II. The fathers of that bogus Council plus their leaders (John XXIII, Paul VI, John Paul I, John Paul II, Benedict XVI, and now Francis I) kept not only the name “Catholic Church,” but they also kept their position in the community that continues to call itself the Catholic Church. When people see a man wearing a white cassock and “ruling” millions of people from the Vatican, they automatically assume him to be the pope. People ofttimes fail to comprehend the underlying heretical doctrine coming from such leaders, heresies which can only mean that such a one is not the pope of the Catholic Church.”(Calefactory.org)

Traditional Catholic Doctrine

Many persons who call themselves Catholic think that the “Catholic Church” now centered in Rome, in the Vatican, is the Catholic Church. Since 1958 (after the death of Pope Pius XII on October 9, 1958), the holders of offices there, have usurped the name of the Catholic Church from which they of their own free will departed. People ofttimes fail to comprehend the underlying heretical doctrine coming from such leaders, heresies which can only mean that such a one is not the pope of the Catholic Church.

Being without a pope for a long period of time is nothing new in the world. At the time of the Great Schism, they prayed and waited for their pope for about 40 years. In the early Church of the 4th century, history records the terrible Arian heresy, a denial of the Divinity of Christ, which caused nearly all the bishops to leave the Church by their accepting the Arian heresy. The Catholics who refused to accept the Arian heresy were sad and lonely. To them St. Athanasius addressed some words of encouragement.

So, for those people who have the great desire for the traditional Catholic Church, desire for the sacraments, rites and rituals as they existed prior to 1958, desire for living the Catholic faith according to God’s holy will, and above all else for the hope of salvation, Calefactory.org is your main source of traditional Catholic doctrine and teachings. May God grant you the grace to be Catholic and to always remain Catholic, the only faith which gives the hope of salvation.
